Sonnet 12 ~ Carry You Home

Sonnet 12 ~ Carry You Home

I awake at dusk to the constant notion of time’s passing

and watch beautiful day descend into dreadful night;

when violet and white rose fades

and adoring bright russet curls fade to grey;

when the leaves on trees that line the drive fly away

leaving no shelter for those resting underway,

and summer’s abundance now bundled in transit

as if summer were the old farmer himself; carried to grave.

I question the fate of your beauty bequest,

For you too will expire amongst the hands of time,

the beautiful ones do not stay forever young.

They breath last breath and wither as swiftly as they witness new youths’ blossom;

There is no defense against time’s disparaging decree,

With the exception of a child, a sentinel as Father Time carries you home.

Sonnet 10 ~ Love; Present Among All Things

Sonnet 10 ~ Love; Present Among All Things

You’ve no love in your heart for any other;

Shameless in this regard

So it is; even though love covers you abundantly;

Clearly, you love none other but yourself.

But, you only hurt yourself in this tyranny

Destroying your chance for home, hearth and life thereafter,

As you close the door of legacy’s gate.

When your hands and heart should be fixated to prop the gates open wide.

Amend your indignation; and set free the sentinel barriers that blockade my hearts scrutiny.

Wherein should hate try succeed; where only love can win?

Be alive and lovely as thy beautiful face,

At the very least be benign to yourself

By having a child out of love for me,

Beloved life carries on in bequest; where love is present among all things.

Sonnet 57 ~ My Sacrifice

Sonnet 57 ~ My Sacrifice

l'amour est cécité

I am yours only; all I am waits for you alone mon amour

However long the hours and days, until your onset.

Time means nothing to me, I stand still,

There, but for the grace of you go I.

Time holds no resentment

As the sands of time sift and hourglass turns.

Nor do I indigently waver about in your absence;

When you left me behind, into the wild, seeking your path of destiny.

I close off jealous thought; refusing to question obscurity

My thoughts wonder to find you; dreaming of where you are, what you're doing.

Amongst tears and rain; my reverence clings to nothing of substance or concern.

How joyful must be those enlightened by your presence;

Semper fidelis am I; such a fool for love, that only your will be done,

Whatever your will be; your perfect love is all I see.

Sonnet 9 ~ Selfish Abomination

Sonnet 9 ~ Selfish Abomination

Do you fear the tears of your loss upon bride’s eyes

That you choose to remain living a life alone.

But, if you die without leaving a legacy, a new life behind,

The entire world cries; as if it were thyself thy widowed bride.

Nature’s energy will mourn and cry evermore,

The loss of beauty’s replication.

If you were to leave behind beloved wife,

She could see your soul reflected in your child’s eye.

A shiftless fool wastes money imprudently

Yet the money still exists within the world for others' greed.

But if thou waste beautiful manifestation; it is lost forever,

Eternally vanished and unearthed.

Whosoever chooses such a path of selfish abomination

Be loveless to anything and anyone else.

Sonnet 8 ~ Song of Songs to None

Sonnet 8 ~ Song of Songs to None

You are the music of my heart; so why now is the music such sad melody for you?

My happiness resounds beautiful echoes of your soul, without confrontation.

Why do you partake in such circumstance that brings no joy to you freely.

And with such dissension; you listen anyway?

When true beauty resonates, in perfect tune and

Harmony of union, but still bothersome to your ears,

It is only because your heart is closed in discord

You deny synchronization, forbearing your pact, and miss the beat of ancestry’s tradition.

Can’t you see how the piano keys work so beautifully together

Creating such beauty in accordance and stance,

As a husband, wife and child, celebrated one of multiple note

Create such beautiful song; articulating magnificent union and entity of love.

But you in blank verse, and distorted note,

Sing alone; song of songs to none.

Sonnet 7 ~ Lonely Tides at Sunset

Sonnet 7 ~ Lonely Tides at Sunset

Upon sunrise,

We awaken and welcome

A brand new day,

For the sunshine is a source of greatest love;

Heavenly light stretches across the sky, from dusk till dawn it climbs onward,

As a young man’s vigor in the beauty of life’s prime.

Brothers and sisters continuously seek reverence in basking in the glory.

Celebrating ascension and day’s great solstice;

Until lengths reach summit’s great grasp, and grows weary

Succumbing to the shadows of night’s great tide, falls and fades,

So too, the submissive eyes and scattered attentions of man

Turning anew and looking onward in other directions:

As it will be with you, as time encrypts upon you,

You too will face night’s great tide, forever capturing your legacy with its merciless undertow, unless a child is born.

Sonnet 6 ~ Don't Fall Victim to Winter's Fury

Sonnet 6 ~ Don't Fall Victim to Winter's Fury

don’t neglect your youth and risk your legacy. don't allow hard times to destroy your dream! love anyway, and... shine on!

Don’t allow winter’s ebb to entangle you in darkness

Or destroy your inner light from shining bright in new day’s dawn

Plant the seeds of life with love’s companion,

or risk demise of thou bloom.

For in neglecting offspring’s desires; love’s early blossom, will surly wilt and perish

Great strength and generous fruit of life sprout

With love’s acceptance and reciprocation.

Nurturing and growth of one in one’s own image, gives ten times great joy.

And joy multiplies tenfold when increased in numbers,

Establishing joy in equality to one’s legacy.

Then, if thou were to breathe last breath, death holds no root.

Your beauty continued and emergent through new origin of offspring.

Selfishness in time of beauty’s ripe harvest is undue; you are so beautiful

Too beautiful to be overtaken by death’s cold chill; leaving you nothing but brittle bones lost among winter’s darkest night; and thine own legacy destroyed of worms come springtime’s light.

~ j. marshon
adaptation of w. shakespeare sonnet 6
